The Kiss

Native Foreign AI Labs presents “The Kiss 1.0” - a film that will never be finished. Created with a myriad of AI tools, director Nik Kleverov plans on continuing to iterate the film over time as the tools continue to change and evolve. Nik is a Russian-Ukrainian immigrant who is a huge fan of Russian literature: “The Kiss” is one of his favorite short stories written by Anton Chekhov.

He’s used AI tools to summarize and re-write the story of “The Kiss” as first-person prose recounting the key events of the book. He leans into the imperfection and "mistakes" of AI tools with the misremembering of facial details and the kiss itself being a mistake.

There are lots of human elements still involved in the process, notably Nik’s creative direction. This is a short film he’s wanted to make for a while but hadn't had the chance due to budgetary limitations. This is an experiment in how AI tools can make it easier to workshop creative ideation.
